The global theme for 2026 is “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism” . This focus on technology is particularly relevant for Ethiopia, which is actively working to develop and promote its tourism sector. Just ahead of the celebrations, Ethiopia's Ministry of Tourism announced that the country welcomed over 1.6 million international tourists in the 2018 Ethiopian Fiscal Year, generating more than $5 billion in revenue.
